THE SEVEN HOT SPRINGS OF KANNIYA IN TRINCOMALEE

Trincomalee city has many Hindu sites of historical importance. The Kanniya hot water springs also known as Kanniya hot water wells. It is situated about 8 km from Trincomalee town.

The water is warm and the temperature of each well is slightly different from each other. The seven hot water springs are enclosed by a high brick wall. Each spring well is about three to four feet deep and built in a square shape. According to legend these seven hot water springs date back to the times of King Ravana who ruled the country over 5000 years ago.
