The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is a traditional and cultural festival has dawned once more. This is a festival that has been celebrated for many years.

I have great pleasure in extending my sincere greetings to all Sri Lankans at home and abroad on the occasion of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year which will bring you peace, happiness and prosperity.

During this time it helps us to remind the people of all communities to whom Sri Lanka is home of our rich cultural heritage and much valued traditions. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and the only way we can make it bright by working together in harmony for an everlasting peace.
