Arya Cakravarti Dynasty

The 8 feet tall statue of King Cinkai Arya Cakravarti Cankili Cekaracacekaran will be inaugurated on 3 August 2011, by Hon. Douglas Devananda (MP) Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development. I would briefly like to bring to the kind attention of the public that after my telephone conversation on 15 July 2011 with the Municipal Commissioner of Jaffna Mr. M. S. Saravanabavan, our Royal Temple Priest Sri K. Kurusamy Sarma Kurukkal of Sri Kailasanathar Pillayar Temple of Nallur, Jaffna, contacted me personally and explained the story about the statue to me. With the help of the Mayor of Jaffna, the Royal Temple Priest and his family were the donors to reconstruct the statue and the priest family wanted to keep this issue private and confidential. However, after having discussed the issue with him personally, I advised the Priest Sri K. Kurusamy Sarma Kurukkal to let the public know the truth, as many unnecessary rumours were spread.

On behalf of the family and myself, I wish therefore to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation of this gesture. I would also like to thank the Chief Priest His Holiness Sri K. Vaitheeswaran Kurukkal, Sri K. Kurusamy Sarma Kurukkal and Family, the Mayor of Jaffna Mrs. Yogeshwari Patkunarajah, the Municipal Commissioner of Jaffna Mr. M. S. Saravanabavan and the sculptures Kaliyaperumal Purushothaman Sabathi for their great work.
