THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY
H.R.H. Raja REMIGIUS KANAGARAJAH OF JAFFNA

I would like to express my deep concern at the recent demonstration in Chilaw town, one person was killed when the Police fired and three others were injured.

Also, many people have been injured during other recent protests. I ask the government authorities to protect the innocent people of Sri Lanka for them to live in peace and to respect their fundamental rights.

I urge the Police Force to stop shooting at protesters in any future protests. The people of Sri Lanka should able to live without any fear and prevent further loss of innocent lives.

I do hope and pray that we can overcome this problem.
