THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT WAS ISSUED BY
HRH RAJA REMIGIUS KANAGARAJAH OF JAFFNA

I strongly condemned the shooting incident which took place in Nallur, Jaffna on 22 July 2017. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family members of the late Police Sergeant Sarath Premachandra, and I also wish a speedy recovery to the injured Police officer.

A proper investigation should be conducted without undue delay and the Law Enforcement Officers in Jaffna should ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
