Unfortunately, some people are trying to create unnecessary problems in the country and trying to disturb the hard earned peace.

Hate speech, racism, is a form of violence and it should be entirely banned across the country. Therefore, the Sri Lankan Government should introduce new laws against hate speech, racism and also the Government should take appropriate measures to ensure that social media companies to remove hate speech, false news and illegal content within a strict time frame.

As I mentioned earlier, I would kindly like to remind you all that on the Island we have groups with different languages, race, religions, customs and traditions. All the people of Sri Lanka should be treated with dignity and respect and everyone should be able to live in a truly equal multicultural society.
