I would like to convey my deepest concern about the recent escalation of violence and the war like situation in Sri Lanka.
Many massacres have taken place during the recent violence. I ask the government authorities to protect the innocent people of Sri Lanka for them to live in peace and to respect their fundamental rights.
I was shocked to hear the sad news of the "Sencholai" orphans who were killed by air strikes. They were unarmed children therefore no one should have dared to touch them. I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the family members and may the departed souls rest in peace.
I urge to bring a halt to these killings perpetrated through air strikes in the Northern and Eastern part of the country. The people of Sri Lanka should be able to live without any fear of war.
I urge both sides to return to the negotiating table in order to improve the situation for the people of Sri Lanka and prevent further loss of innocent lives.
I do hope and pray that we can overcome this problem. May God Bless You All.
